Description

A classic banana bread recipe that combines ripe bananas, buttermilk, and a mix of butter and oil for a super moist texture.


Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) softened butter
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ cup walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash the bananas in a bowl until you have about 1 ½ cups.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and vegetable oil, then mix in the brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, then the mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently.
  5. If using, fold in optional mix-ins like walnuts or chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use ripe bananas and don’t overmix the batter. You can customize with different mix-ins or spices.
