Description
A classic banana bread recipe that combines ripe bananas, buttermilk, and a mix of butter and oil for a super moist texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large ripe bananas (mashed)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup (½ stick) softened butter
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: ½ cup walnuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash the bananas in a bowl until you have about 1 ½ cups.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and vegetable oil, then mix in the brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, then the mashed bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently.
- If using, fold in optional mix-ins like walnuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, use ripe bananas and don’t overmix the batter. You can customize with different mix-ins or spices.
